Imagine someone is calling you on your iPhone, but the device is charging in another room. But you can take that call on your iPad or your old iPhone that doesn't have a SIM card and is next to you. All this is not a science fiction scenario. It can be done over WiFi with the new iOS 8 and the iOS Continuity.

Simple setup
Apple 's new iOS 8 feature allows a device without a SIM card to have caller ID, answer a phone call, and send SMS. And we're not talking about iMessages, but the familiar text messages that use your phone connection.
iOS it is pretty easy. Just go to Settings and select FaceTime. Make sure iPhone Cellular Calls is turned on. After that, simply turn FaceTime off and back on. Depending on your carrier, this can take up to a minute.
Keep in mind that several bugs have been reported in Wi-Fi and FaceTime in iOS 8, if any of the above does not work it would be a good idea to wait for iOS 8.0.1 which will probably not be long in coming.
