The well-known hacktivist group Syrian Electronic Army, or SEA, strikes again. A nuclear radiation sign on an Israeli flag caused a lot of concern when the Israeli Defense Force Twitter account warned of a possible radiation leak at the Dimona nuclear facility:

The Negev Nuclear Research Center is located just 13 kilometers away from the city, and the news that it had been hit by two rockets caused panic among the 252,000 followers of the Israeli Army.
But before residents could start running for the nearest shelter, a tweet came from the Syrian Electronic Army denying the news and stating that they had hacked the Israeli armed forces account.
The screenshot published by the hackers showed that the group had gained access to the Hootsuite admin panel, a Twitter client that can be used to manage tweets.
When the Israeli military discovered what had happened, it deleted the tweets and issued an apology:
We apologize for the fake tweets as our twitter account was hacked. We will fight terrorism on all fronts, including cyberspace

The Twitter hack came almost a week after the SEA group hacked the official blog of the Israeli army. On Sunday, the blog, which was still “under maintenance,” was hacked. The website was garbled and displayed a message written in Arabic.
