Microsoft recently introduced the Internet Explorer Developer Channel with gamepad support. With this move, the company is giving the green light to the development of various applications and high-quality games so that they can be played on the Internet Explorer browser.
The Redmond-based company revealed today that Gargantia: Sky Courier, a very popular game in Japan, designed by anime studio Production IG, can be played with modern versions of Internet Explorer.
The game is built using the open-source Turbulenz Engine. Microsoft has published the code on GitHub, giving developers the ability to modify the game as they see fit.
“The Turbulenz Engine uses a component of the player to give high-level access to the parts that make up the game itself – characters, game logic, scenarios and so on. Having this high-level platform makes it easy to write code to create your own game,” the company said.
An in-depth description of all the innovations used by Microsoft in this project is available on the Modern.ie website. The company encourages developers who are trying to make the most of HTML5 and WebGL support in modern browsers to continue their efforts and support the evolution of web applications.
