Attention all of you who use Microsoft email, as emails have just been spotted claiming to be from Microsoft and the “WWW email domain host.” The emails are not from Microsoft, but from scammers who are attempting to phish a website to obtain your passwords and other private information.
The emails were spotted by the Hoax Slayer and come with the subject line “REACTIVATE YOUR EMAIL ACCOUNT!” The emails state:
“According to the email upgrade guidelines from Microsoft Corporation and the WWW email domain host, all unverified email accounts should be suspended for verification. To avoid suspension of your email account, and to preserve all of your email content, please perform an automatic verification by completing the online verification form. Please click here.”
"In compliance with the email upgrade instructions from Microsoft Corporation and WWW email domain host, all unverified email accounts would be suspended for verification. To avoid suspension of your email account and also to retain all email Contents, please perform one time automatic verification by completing the online verification form. Please CLICK HERE."
These notifications, of course, do not come from Microsoft. When you click here as the scammers urge, you will be taken to a phishing website, where you will be asked to enter your email address, password, date of birth, and phone number.
If you encounter such messages, simply delete them. If you have already fallen victim to this scam, change your password (or passwords, if you use the same one on multiple accounts) as soon as possible.
