The question is one of the mysteries of our time. Who is or who is Satoshi Nakamato?
The Japanese name is the pseudonym of the founder of Bitcoin, the virtual currency that is starting to take on the dimensions of the internet. His real identity, however, is unknown.
What we do know is that in 2008, Satoshi developed the theory of Bitcoin (PDF) and later created the software that would make it a reality.
Since then, the digital currency has become increasingly popular and Satoshi has disappeared, announcing that he has “started other projects.” The mystery has become a significant part of the Bitcoin myth. The developer of the idea that would shake up the world has become a mystery and part of the charm of Bitcoin that no one knows how or where it came from.
A very simple definition for Bitcoin can be developed into five words: Money generated from computer codes.
Conspiracy theories about Satoshi’s identity have recently implicated Silk Road administrator Ross Ulbricht, also known by the pseudonym Dread Pirate Roberts. Dread Pirate Roberts, according to two Israeli computer scientists investigating the matter, received a large sum of money from the start of the online drug market, which probably came from Sotashi. The experts, Dorit Ron and Adi Shamir, stated: “We have discovered a path (but we cannot prove it) that points to a relationship between the two, Satoshi Nakamoto and Dread Pirate Roberts.”
Who else could it be?
There are several on the list of potential developers of the digital currency, but none of them admit to having any role in its development.
In 201 , Joshua Davis , a journalist at The New Yorker , “pointed out” an Irish computer science student named Michael Clear as the mastermind behind the digital currency. Of course, the student did not admit his involvement. “I am not Satoshi,” he told Joshua Davis. “But even if I were, I wouldn’t tell you.”
What we all know is that Bitcoin is associated with anonymity. Payments are very difficult to trace, as is its mysterious founder, who must be very rich today. At the time of writing, the price of Bitcoin has reached $1160.
