Biohacker Tim Cannon and the implantation without anesthetic

No, the image above isn't from the latest Saw movie. It's a photo of biohacker Tim Cannon, the so-called "DIY Cyborg" who implanted a Circadia 1.0 the size of a smartphone under the skin of his arm.

The wireless sensors, developed over the past 18 months by Cannon and his fellow hackers at Grindhouse wetware, monitor his vitals and transmit the data in real time via Bluetooth to his Android device.

Cannon told Vice Motherboardthat Circadia 1.0 could “send me a text message if it thinks I’m about to have a fever.” The device could then help you determine what factors are causing your fever. Future devices of the sensor are expected to be much smaller than the one you see in the photo above.

The huge device, the bruised skin, and the stitches are not very aesthetically pleasing. The implantation procedure is not medically approved, since Cannon performed it with the help of some friends and without anesthesia (!).
