It's been almost two months since Google began rolling out its Android Device Manager , and today the company finally announced that it will support remote locking.
This is an absolutely necessary service, which until now was absent from Androids, since device owners could locate them but not lock them.
Now, if you don't want to erase the data on your phone—presumably because you're hoping to get your hands on it again—the company has added the ability to lock the device. The new service also gives you the option to bypass the passcode when you get your hands on the device again.
