The German elections are less than a week away, and the Pirate Party thought it would be a small reminder to the ruling party. At a campaign rally for Chancellor Angela Merkel, a member of the German Pirate Party took off with a drone with a camera just a few meters away from Merkel and successfully landed it in front of the defense minister.
As September 22nd approaches, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and her team are working hard to maintain their lead in the polls.
As Merkel and her team were on stage, a small object appeared to approach from the sky. It passed the audience, and moved a few meters in front of Merkel, apparently to take photos of the event.
Seconds later, while the drone pilot from the German Pirate Party was being hassled by the police who had spotted him, the drone landed on the scene. While Merkel appeared to be enjoying herself, the German Defense Minister in the dark suit to her left seemed less pleased with what had happened.

The party later confirmed that the stunt was a protest against the EU's use of surveillance drones.
“The goal of the mission was to convey to the Chancellor and Defense Minister Thomas de Maizière what it feels like to be suddenly observed by a drone,” said Markus Barenhoff, vice chairman of the German Pirate Party.
The 23-year-old drone pilot was taken to custody and released shortly after.
