A few days ago, NSA said they were still investigating how Snowden managed to get the files from the agency's servers. Their task is quite difficult since he left no log files behind.
However, a new publication reports that Snowden not only deleted the logs to hide, but also managed to borrow profiles of high-ranking colleagues to gain access to the documents.
According to an anonymous source at NBC News, Snowden impersonated NSA officials to obtain more classified files.

Investigators have been trying to figure out for two and a half months how Snowden got the files. Snowden already had a “top secret” account with system administrator access, which means that even from his own profile, he could access classified files. But as NBC News , he managed to hack into the accounts of NSA employees who were higher-level than his own account. This gave him access to even more sensitive files.
“The damage it caused, on a scale of 1 to 10, is a 12,” the official told NBC.
This proves, once again, that Snowden is smarter than Americans thought.
It is known that Snowden has given thousands of files to journalist Glenn Greenwald , while other files are still in his possession, mostly for his own safety. These documents could be revealed if something happens to Snowden and harm the US.
