Phishing Scam: Your Email Has Been Infected by a Trojan Virus

trojan-virusFirst of all, there is no such thing as a “Trojan Virus.” Remember this if you ever come across a message claiming to be from Yahoo, Google, or Microsoft.

Hoax Slayer warns that the new scam coming via email is trying to convince its recipients that they have been infected with a Trojan Virus, so to speak, two in one.

“Attention E-mail Account Holder, We were notified that your email has been infected with Trojan Virus, please ensure do not download any unknown program from the e-mail. In order to delete the virus and recover your email, please click on the following link below,” read the emails entitled “You have one message Alert.”

In short, the author of the email states that in order to free yourself from the mutated Trojan you must click on the link that is in the email.

While at first glance it may seem that the email is designed to distribute malware, it tries to trick users into giving their email username and password.

The link at the end of the email leads the victims to a fake website that asks them to log into their account for the removal of the “Trojan Virus.”
