The EEL/LAK in collaboration with the Sarantaporo.gr are organizing a conference on Sunday, July 21 at the Pantelopouleio Cultural Center of Sarantaporos on the topic “Wireless community networks Sarantaporo.gr – Modern infrastructures by citizens for citizens”.
The aim of the conference is to provide information on how a wireless network with free access to the internet is designed, implemented and operated based on the experience of the Sarantaporo.gr team, which carried out the wireless networking of 15 villages in the wider Sarantaporos area as part of the Open WiFi action of EEL/LAK.
The group's proposal for the further development of the wireless networks in the area will also be presented and an effort will be made to further mobilize the local community with the aim of establishing support groups in each village where a wireless network has been installed. These groups will have the opportunity to be trained and in collaboration with the Sarantaporo.gr team will be responsible for the maintenance and development of their village's network. At the same time, ways of collaborating with local bodies will be explored so that they can "embrace" this effort and support it for its further development.
