With the help of the Hubble, astronomers have managed to determine the color of a very distant planet located about 63 light-years away from us, in the constellation Vulpecula.
Scientists report that, according to their observations, the planet has a deep blue color. However, this does not necessarily mean that it hosts liquid water.
Instead, the distant planet could be a ball of gas. In this respect, it is much more similar to Jupiter than to planet Earth.
Scientists aren't sure what gives the planet, dubbed HD189733, its blue color. They suspect it's due to the silicon it contains and the particles it reflects that are an integral part of the clouds that make it up, according to the journal Nature.
On the other hand, astrophysicist Jonathan Fortney believes that the blue color is due to “the scattering of light by hydrogen molecules in the atmosphere.”
