Australian shipbuilding company Incat claims to have built the world's fastest ship, the Francisco, which can travel at a speed of 67 miles per hour.
The company's description of it is: "high-speed dual-fuel passenger and car carrier vessel." The ship is powered by two modified jet engines that eject two jets of water.
“It’s definitely the fastest ship in the world,” says Kim Clifford, chief executive of Incat. “Of course there are some high-speed ships that could do more than 58 knots, but none of them could carry 1,000 passengers and 150 cars, and have a huge duty-free shop on board.”
