Apple today agreed to pay $53 million to settle a consumer lawsuit alleging that Apple used faulty humidity sensors in some of its devices, resulting in users being denied warranty replacements.
So depending on which iPhone or iPod model you have, you may be entitled to compensation of around $300 according to today's decision by the federal court in San Francisco.
The court acknowledged that Apple's moisture indicators on these devices may give erroneous results to the technician who opens the device, since they can be very easily affected by everyday use alone, without meaning that the user accidentally spilled water on their device.
Any Apple iPhone customer who was denied a replacement/repair before December 31, 2009, as well as iPod users who experienced the same issue before June 2010, can apply to receive this compensation.
