Tim Cook, like his predecessor Steve Jobs, is usually very reserved when it comes to statements about Apple's future plans for new products and presentations.
This time, however, during the announcement of Apple's first-quarter financial results, it surprised journalists and analysts by stating that Apple is preparing to announce very interesting and new products towards the end of 2013 and then during 2014.
Naturally, during the press conference afterwards, he was asked several times by reporters about this statement and if he could be a little more specific. Tim Cook did not reveal anything further despite persistent questions, simply emphasizing again that we should expect to see very nice products and new categories from Apple towards the end of this year and then in 2014.
"I don't want to be more specific, but we've got some really great stuff coming in the fall and across all of 2014,"
Surely this statement will somewhat calm all these rumors that have been heard lately about a series of new Apple product announcements such as the iPhone 5S, iPad 5 and even a cheaper iPhone model during the summer, specifically during the scheduled WWDC 2013 conference.
With the above statement, Tim Cook certainly does not rule out the possibility that we might see one of the mentioned devices during the summer, but he certainly wanted to emphasize that most announcements/presentations, and indeed important ones, will be made towards the end of the year and during 2014.
We will focus on these statements, and especially on "new product categories" at the end of 2013 and in 2014, since perhaps the iWatch and even the iTV will be implemented.
