A hacker with the online alias Guccifer has managed to hack into at least six email accounts belonging to the Bush and friends. Numerous images and private emails, including messages between the two former US presidents, have been leaked online.
According to Smoking Gun, Guccifer has managed to hack into email accounts belonging to George W. Bush's sister, George H.W. Bush, the former president's wife Barbara Bush, as well as a couple of their friends, including CBS sports journalist Jim Nantz.
The information contained in the emails – dating between 2009 and 2012 – includes home addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and other personal information, such as the four-digit code required to pass through a security gate.
One of the emails shows that last December, when George HW Bush was admitted to the hospital, his condition was so serious that his staff had already planned the funeral.
Another leaked email from the same period is a get-well note from President Barack Obama.
The photos that fell into the hacker include paintings of George W. Bush, as well as a photo of George HW Bush while he was in the hospital.
The hacker told Smoking Gun that he has breached hundreds of accounts in the past and knows that the FBI has been after him for some time now.
