Red October is government malware

According to TechCrunch, the two experts speculate that the Red October malware could be a state-sponsored attack, given that the targets are government agencies, embassies, and research institutions.

On the other hand, Kaspersky speculates that it could be the work of a group of hacktivists - considering that they are looking for secret information -, or a group of elite hackers who provide their services to the secret services of various countries.

Interestingly, Kaspersky believes the attackers are not from Russia, considering that Russian organizations and agencies have also been targeted by the malware. However, Kaspersky's founder says that the source of the attack could be Israel.
