Intel is introducing a new platform based on the Intel Atom processor intended for affordable smartphones, with Acer , Lava International and Safaricom as its first partners .

Intel claims that despite their low cost, they come with high-end features: The Intel Atom processor Z2420 with Intel Hyper-Threading technology can operate at a frequency of up to 1.2 GHz, and the chip can support 1080p video encoding and decoding, two cameras with advanced shooting capabilities including burst mode, which allows for 7 photos per second at 5-megapixel resolution. The board also includes the Intel XMM 6265 HSPA+ modem that supports Dual Sim/Dual Standby for those looking for a budget smartphone.

Next is the Clover Trail+ platform on which smartphones for the mainstream market, as well as performance smartphones, can be based. Intel's second proposal for higher-performance smartphones is the Atom Z2580 also with multi-threaded processing. It is a dual-core processor with a graphics processing engine also with two cores. The company claims that this doubles the performance of its current proposal, and offers competitive power and autonomy.
