Codenames for the upcoming Galaxy S8 have leaked online, and some analysts say the smartphone may be announced earlier than expected.
SamMobile reported that two versions of the Galaxy S8, codenamed Dream and Dream2, may arrive earlier. The two models are codenamed SM-G950 and SMG955. The Samsung Galaxy S7 carries the model number SM-G930. The report says that Samsung usually increases the model number by 10 when it comes to a successor device, but it seems that this is not the case for the Galaxy S8 .
Apparently, the reason behind this is the “phobia of four,” which is the association of the number 4 with bad luck and this is very important in South Korea. The number 4 is reportedly omitted in the country’s hospitals and public buildings, while the 4th floor in some buildings is symbolized by the letter F.
This isn't the first time Samsung has released a phone faster. The model number for the Galaxy S4 was supposed to be GT-I9400, but instead it was GT-I9500. In another report, SamMobile revealed that Samsung may move forward with the Galaxy S8 announcement next year.
The company is said to be set to unveil the Galaxy S8 during MWC in February next year, but it seems the device could arrive earlier. However, the date and month are still unknown.
This way, Samsung can recover from the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco more quickly
Other rumors about the Galaxy S8 include the fact that both variants will only be available with a dual-curved display. So it seems like Samsung will be putting in all the effort for the upcoming smartphone to make sure that the company's image and financial situation are gradually restored.
