A sustained DDoS attack has prevented WikiLeaks from releasing a series of documents related to the failed Turkish coup and those it received anonymously.
Yesterday, WikiLeaks teased Twitter followers about an upcoming leak that allegedly contained 300,000 emails and over 500,000 documents.

According to WikiLeaks, the documents were leaked by the AKP (Turkish: Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi / Greek: Justice and Development Party), which is the party of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, currently the largest political force in Turkey.
WikiLeaks announced the data dump just three days after a small section of the Turkish military attempted to seize control of the country in a military coup that failed just hours later. 208 people were killed and more than 2,000 injured in the aftermath of the coup.

Thousands of police and military personnel were arrested across the country over the weekend after the failed coup. Human rights groups have complained that prisoners were being beaten in Turkey and that no clear evidence has been forthcoming. Some, including WikiLeaks, have spoken out and called the situation a purge of any political dissidents who might oppose Erdogan.
A few hours after WikiLeaks announced the leak, the organization wrote: “Our infrastructure is under constant attack.”
