How can you stay safe from the ever-increasing hacking, security breaches, and spying attempts? Whether you're an everyday person or a celebrity or the richest person in the world, privacy is of utmost importance to everyone.
And Mark Zuckerberg, founder, billionaire, and CEO of Facebook, is no exception. According to a photo posted by the CEO himself, he appears to be covering his laptop's camera with tape
On Tuesday, he posted a congratulatory message on the Facebook-owned social media site Instagram to celebrate Instagram's 500 million monthly user milestone. The image shows Zuckerberg sitting next to an Apple MacBook.
However, upon closer inspection of the MacBook, it appears that Zuckerberg has placed tape over his camera. Additionally, it appears that he has placed tape over the headphone jack on the left side of the MacBook.
Hackers are known to be able to take control of your computers and secretly listen to your conversations and/or monitor you through your laptop's camera.
It appears that Zuckerberg, who is worth $35.7 billion, is trying to prevent this from happening by placing a piece of tape over his camera, rendering it useless.
This inadvertent revelation comes just weeks after accounts , one of which reportedly had the not-so-complicated password "dadada."
While it is not known whether the laptop is indeed Zuckerberg's, such a move would be anything but surprising.
In the past, high-profile names like FBI Director James Comey and NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden have also put tape over their cameras to protect their privacy. As Gizmodo points out, it's somewhat ironic that Zuckerberg is paranoid about people spying on him when Facebook itself is making a fortune collecting data on over a billion people.
