Many of our readers often send us questions about which programming language they should learn. In the past, we have written several articles about which programming languages are the ones that help interested parties in several issues.
Today we will be looking at the languages that security researchers and hackers depending on what they want to do. Hacking is usually about breaking code. So we have divided hacking into three categories for the purpose of this article – Web Hacking, Exploit Writing & Reverse Engineering, and of course each of them requires a different programming language.
In our previous article we mentioned which programming languages you will find useful for Web Hacking. Today we will refer to the parts of Exploit Writing & Reverse Engineering

2. Exploit Writing
After web hacking, another important application of hacking is exploits. You can crack a software by writing an exploit. But to write an exploit you need to learn either Python or Ruby.
Python: It is said that a security researcher or hacker should know Python, and this is because it is the main language for creating exploits and tools. Security experts, even “professional” hackers, suggest that learning Python perfectly is the best way to learn hacking.
Ruby: Ruby is a simple yet complex object-oriented language. Ruby is very useful when it comes to exploit writing. It is used for meterpreter scripting by hackers. The most famous hacker tool, the Metasploit framework is built on Ruby.
3. Reverse Engineering
Reverse engineering, [in Greek: აფრისივის ხარისი] is defined as the process of converting code from assembly to machine language or from source code of a high-level language to an exe file (executable, compiled) and its restoration (reconstruction) to the original code (source or object).
Anyone who knows reverse engineering can easily find flaws and bugs. If you want to learn reverse engineering then you will need to know C, C++ and Java.
