Google Chrome appears to soon overtake Microsoft’s Internet Explorer as the leading browser.
Google's Chrome is fighting hard to become the most popular browser and could overtake Microsoft's old browser, Internet Explorer, by the end of this year. For years, Internet Explorer was the most popular browser in the world. However, things changed when Microsoft decided to dump IE in favor of a new browser called Edge that is bundled with Windows 10.
The result of Microsoft's promotion of Edge is that Internet Explorer's market share is tumbling down and Google Chrome is the only browser benefiting from this decline.
As can be seen from the new NetMarketShare report, Internet Explorer fell from 44.79% to 43.40%, while Chrome went from 36.56% to 39.09%, which is a pretty significant jump. Surprisingly, only Chrome seemed to gain market share as Firefox, Safari, and Opera all lost, with Firefox , dropping from 11.68% market share to just 10.54%.
The Microsoft Edge browser has seen an increase among users, but it is not enough to explain the 1.39% decline of Internet Explorer, which likely means that users decided to drop Internet Explorer for Chrome. During the same period, Edge rose to 3.55% since February, with a market share of 3.02%, an increase of about 0.53%.
The rate at which Chrome is chosen by users will not be long before it becomes the number one browsing program in the world!
