For quite some time now, Internet Explorer has been the most popular browser in the world. But something seems to have changed. Google's Chrome seems to be rising in the preference of internet users, and continues to climb to the top spot.
Is it a coincidence? What has changed on Microsoft's part is the promotion of the new Edge browser. As a result, there is a decrease in the market share of Internet Explorer, and Chrome did not miss the opportunity to continue its path to the first place.
In March, Internet Explorer fell from 44.79% to 43.40%, while Chrome rose from 36.56% to 39.09% of the market share. Over the past month, Firefox, Safari, and Opera also lost market share, with Firefox the biggest loser, falling from 11.68% to 10.54%.
Microsoft Edge saw a small increase in users, but it wasn't enough to explain the 1.39% decline in Internet Explorer, which means that many users decided to ditch Microsoft's browser for Chrome.
During the same period, Edge usage increased to 4.30% from February's 3.93%, an increase of 0.37%.
