Has Microsoft gone crazy? Why is it throwing its Cloud Data Center into the sea?

At a time when large technology companies such as Facebook and Google prefer to move their data centers to colder countries to reduce the electricity bill charged by their air conditioners, Microsoft has found a better home for its data centers, and will certainly greatly reduce the high cost of cooling them… It's throwing them into the sea!
Here is the company's response:
“50% of us all live near the coast. Why not our data too?

Creating massive data centers under the sea may sound like a crazy idea, but that's exactly what Microsoft is considering with its first underwater data center, named "Leona Philpot.".

THE FIRST SUBMARINE Data Center
The testing is part of Microsoft's "Project Natick" — an ongoing research program to build and operate a data center submerged in the ocean, which the company believes could make data centers faster, cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and easier to build.
“Leona Philpott” (named after the character from Microsoft’s Xbox game Halo) was tested last August, when engineers placed a massive steel capsule a kilometer off the coast of California, 30 feet underwater in the Pacific Ocean.
A single data center computing rack was placed in an eight-foot-wide steel capsule, which was covered with about 100 sensors to monitor every aspect of underwater conditions: pressure, humidity, and, most importantly, movement.

The test ran from August to November last year (exactly 105 days) and engineers report that it was much more successful than they expected!!
