computer, internet and touch technology training to seniors for another year.
The program is implemented by the NGO 50+ Hellas, in collaboration with the Municipality of Heliopolis and the University of Athens and is supported for the second consecutive year by OTE and COSMOTE.
This is a series of free courses on the basic use of computers and the internet, aimed at reducing the digital divide among people over the age of 50.
In this context, OTE and COSMOTE provided all the necessary equipment, such as PC units, smartphones and tablets, to the Elderly Protection Center of the Municipality of Ilioupoli.
"Access to technology that enables and facilitates communication is extremely important, if not almost essential now, especially for those who did not grow up with technology in their daily lives. Everyone, regardless of age, can have equal opportunities for entertainment, communication, and social networking in New Media. And when you learn something new, you feel young!", said Ms. Depi Tzimea, Corporate Communications Director of OTE Group, in the context of the special event for the awarding of the 'students'.
"This new technology, which is also a new language, in addition to providing information, sharpens the mind and does not leave it idle," said one of the participants in this year's program, while adding: "My time is filling up, I no longer feel lonely!" It is worth noting that more than 480 'students' came closer to technology and changed their daily lives, while over 650 people are on the waiting list for their participation next year.
