It only took them a few years, but Ubuntu finally managed to make the login screen look like the lock screen, and the update will be ready for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.
Ubuntu fans have been asking for this particular feature for quite some time, but it probably wasn't a priority until now. Ubuntu developer Marco Trevisan showed off how the feature works and some of its improved functionality.
For example, until now, users did not have access to any kind of information when the screen was locked, with the exception of a recently added clock.
Now, users will be able to access all the normal prompts that would be available when a normal session is running in the background, just like they did before logging in.
The lock screen used to depend on the GNOME display package, but with the new update it will no longer be necessary.
Ubuntu 14.04 LTS promises to be one of the most exciting releases and many features have been implemented during the development cycle .
Canonical's new Linux distribution is expected to arrive on April 17th.
