The smartphone with Ubuntu OS has come a long way, but it still has a long way to go before its official market launch – Canonical will tell us all about it, as it hopes to see an Ubuntu phone before the end of this year.
Nevertheless, now that some phone are getting on board with the project, we're able to test a few prototypes: One was simply a non-functional device from a Spanish company called BQ, showcasing simple but solid build quality for a mid-range device.
The other was more interesting – a re-engineered Android device from a second Ubuntu partner, Meizu, featuring lightweight operating system and environment tweaks.
