A 23-year-old man was arrested by the Economic Police and Cybercrime Prosecution Service for child pornography via the internet

Impersonating minors on Facebook, he blackmailed an 11-year-old girl into sending him nude photos so he wouldn't post other photos of her that he already had on his profile

The Economic Police and Cybercrime Prosecution Service arrested yesterday (06.03.2014) a 23-year-old Greek national in an area of Attica, against whom a case was filed for child pornography on the internet.

In particular, the father of an 11-year-old Greek national reported that an unknown person impersonating underage girls, on two profiles on "Facebook", was chatting with his daughter and after convincing her to send him personal photos of her, he then blackmailed her to send him others with nude content, so as not to publish the ones he already had in his possession. The minor, fearing the threats, sent him three (3) photos with content, which this person published on one of the profiles.

From the digital online investigation by the police officers of the Cybercrime Investigation Unit, which was carried out in the context of lifting the confidentiality, following a prosecutor's order, the details of the 23-year-old Greek national were identified.

A search followed yesterday at his home, in the presence of a Public Prosecutor, during which one (1) laptop computer and a portable storage device (usb) were found and seized, on which the disputed and other photos of the minor as well as photos of another minor girl were stored. At the same time, from the on-site autopsy of the computer, it was identified that he is the administrator of the disputed profiles on the social networking website.
