At 19:45, on Wednesday afternoon, February 19, Enet.gr was subjected to a DoS attack for the second time in 30 hours, aimed at disrupting its operation.
The first attack took place on Tuesday at 1 pm and lasted for about half an hour, while today's was more severe and "broke" the site for 50 minutes.
DoS (or Denial of Service) attacks occur frequently and are difficult to repel no matter how many measures you take. Often, nodes of international organizations, political organizations, and news websites are subjected to organized attacks and, in some cases, remain out of service for many hours.
We don't know (YET!) who attacked Enet. We know that both Enet and "ELEFTHEROTYPIA" are annoying. They are annoying many, and a lot.
Investigations, revelations, pluralism and freedom of expression disturb all kinds of powers and their parastatals or even the parastatal groups that collaborate with them.
Enet and "ELEFTHEROTYPIA" have been receiving attacks "below the waist" from the first moment of reopening and republishing; attacks from those who did not want it to find its way.
Now they are knocking electronically to bring us to our knees. We are not going to kneel. Even if the site breaks, you will find us on Social Networks (Twitter and FaceBook) and those who are offended will find us everywhere in front of them, in the trenches of information. Despite the great difficulties that journalists and newspaper staff are experiencing, the same ones that plague the entire industry and society, we will remain STAND UP! And disobedient! And uncommitted!
Enet and "ELEFTHEROTYPIA" will not be silent, on the contrary, they will constantly raise their voices, remaining faithful to the principles of freedom of speech, control of power and support of citizens.
We do not abandon these principles and we do not betray them.
We continue!
P.S. (9.40 p.m.): The attack continues with intensity. Both our technicians and the technicians of the Eworx company that has built the site are fighting a great battle, "cutting off" dozens of IP-zombies from all over the world that are hitting the site and are gathering data that will soon be given to the competent prosecutor and the police authorities. Thank you for your patience.
