A new service from the company offers users online advice from experts via video and online chat
Google has announced the launch of a new online tool that allows users to ask questions and get answers from experts on tasks such as cooking, housework and even medical issues. The tool is called Helpouts, and will work via video and online chats.
Various international companies will be able to offer services to online users with Helpouts. Google has already invited over 1,000 companies to participate in the program. As it became known, companies will be able to charge online consumers either by the minute or by the online online session, while there will also be free services.
Google, according to a report published on the technology website mashable.com, will earn a 20% commission on every online transaction through Helpouts. Users will be able to schedule an appointment with a specialist from the company of their choice or alternatively, they will be able to chat directly with him if he is available at that particular moment via online video call.
“With the new product we are launching, we are opening up a new world for every user,” said Udi Manber, Google’s vice president of engineering. “Most of the real useful information and advice on specialized topics and issues remains in people’s heads today,” he added.
The new service integrates well-known Google applications. For example, online video chat is possible thanks to Google Hangouts, while consumers find the companies and products they are interested in through the popular search engine of the American internet giant.
Also, payments are made exclusively through Google Wallet, Google's online "wallet", while users must have a Google+ account to register for Helpouts.
Helpouts launched today and is also available for download on the Google Play Store for Android smartphone users. The corresponding app for iOS smartphone users will be available soon.
