Apple 's 2018 hardware refresh , which could include the much-talked-about iPhone SE 2, is likely to bring AirPower to market.
According to sources, Apple plans to announce AirPower in March, although it is unclear at this time whether the company still wants to make the news public at a press event or simply start selling the device.
The report says that AirPower will be available at both Apple stores and retailers like Best Buy, while customers will also be able to purchase it online.
For information, AirPower is a charging device that Apple announced alongside the iPhone 8 and iPhone X last fall, and the company promised it would hit store shelves in 2018, but didn't provide any further details. The device can simultaneously recharge products like the iPhone (models that support wireless charging), Apple Watch, and AirPods.
The iPhone 8 and iPhone X are the first iPhone models to come with wireless charging. In this generation of smartphones, Apple replaced the metal body with glass to enable wireless charging, so AirPower is specifically aimed at customers of the latest generation phones.
Although no details were given, it will be interesting to see if AirPower offers faster charging for the iPhone compared to standard Qi.
We'll have more information in the coming weeks as we approach the rumored launch of AirPower, but in the meantime, we're always keeping our reservations in mind.
