Foldable smartphone: The next big thing in the mobile industry seems to be the foldable smartphone, and Microsoft is rumored to be quite committed to its project, as several patents have recently shown.
And while a Microsoft Surface Phone is a big desire for many fans of the company, Samsung seems to be acting faster since its own foldable smartphone will likely be released in November.
Although Samsung's smartphone is considered a great rival to Microsoft's Surface, it is important to know that no company has confirmed the production of such a device, so everything remains in the realm of speculation.
However, Samsung is proving to be more confident about its project as more and more sources are talking about a possible November launch. It is claimed that the final specifications and production plans of the new device have already been decided, with work to be completed by November. In fact, some prototype units are ready for private unveiling to key Samsung customers.
Regarding the specifications, Samsung wants to use a 7.3-inch OLED display that folds inward, with the company testing the device's durability in long-term folding.
While Samsung's plan is moving forward at a rapid pace, the same cannot be said for Microsoft's Surface Phone, whose status remains unknown.
Recently discovered patents, however, indicate that Microsoft has explored not only ways to connect two different displays for a foldable approach but also various approaches to installing camera modules on a foldable smartphone.
