Skype Bug "Turns Conversations Upside Down" on Windows

Skype bug

Users are advised to install the previous version of Skype

Skype users have recently discovered a bug in the Windows version of the client that breaks up conversations and changes the order in which messages are displayed.

Posts on Microsoft Skype support forum reveal that some users running the latest version of the app for Windows are seeing a bug that causes their latest messages to appear above those received from their contacts.

A known issue, requiring downgrade

Microsoft explains that this is a known issue in the latest version of Skype and recommends that users downgrade to the previous version of the app until the issue is fixed.

“This is unfortunately a known issue for some users running the latest version of Windows, 7.17.0.105 – As a temporary workaround while we work on an updated version with a fix, please download and install the previous version,” the company advises.

At this point, it is not yet known when the new version might be released, but it is expected to happen sometime in the coming days. Other versions of Skype, such as those targeting mobile devices running Android or iOS, are not affected by this particular bug.

If you're seeing the same error on your computer, you can simply go ahead and download the old version of Skype to fix it until the patch (make sure you select the alternate download link from the list to get the previous version).
