Revelations about the "Dark Web" - There you can find everything from drugs to executioners! "The dark web hides all the serious crime of the internet"
New challenges for the prosecution of cybercrime are caused by advanced online extortion and what happens on the so-called "dark web"... where one can find everything from drugs to executioners!
The internet, as most of us know it, is just the tip of the iceberg. Beneath it lies an even larger network, the so-called dark or deep web. A hacker who spoke to the Greek HUFFINGTON POST reveals the facets of the dark web.
"The common user does not have access to the Dark Web... In order for someone to enter, they need special tools," he admitted.
The Deep Web offers anonymity to users through the TOR network. It is used by activists, journalists, or people trying to bypass internet censorship in various countries. However, anonymity is also exploited by criminals.
"Another reason to enter the Deep Web is to find services that are not available to the public. Some of them are stolen cards, weapons, drugs... There are pages with paid killers," the hacker adds.
"All serious internet crime is hidden in the dark web," says Mr. Sfakianakis, head of the Cybercrime Prosecution.
Recently, the FBI managed to crack down on the largest "black market" on the dark web, the so-called SILK ROAD, which made billions in turnover in the digital currency bitcoin, which also ensures anonymity.
Traffickers or users of child pornography also hide on the dark web.
