One of the best parts of Windows 10 is its significant integration with Cortana, Microsoft's helpful digital assistant. But to really put Cortana to work for you, it helps to have voice control enabled. That way, your next file search, weather check, or command to open an app will be a simple "Hey Cortana."
To get started, click the Cortana icon/search box on the taskbar. Then, click the laptop icon in the Cortana navigation panel on the left side—it's just below the Home icon. (If you haven't enabled Cortana yet , you'll need to follow the steps shown to enable it before you see the Cortana interface.)
From your laptop screen, click Settings, then in the Settings Panel, toggle “Hey Cortana” to ON. After you do this, a new option will appear called “Respond best.”
Here you have the option to allow Cortana to respond to anyone or only to your voice. If you choose the latter, clicking “Learn my voice” will ask Cortana to repeat six different sentences to record your voice pattern.
That's all for enabling Cortana 's voice . Just remember that to use this feature you'll need to have an active microphone, whether it's built into your laptop or a third-party external piece of peripheral equipment.
Depending on your hardware, Windows will warn you that your microphone isn't working and that Cortana "may not be able to hear you clearly." Sometimes, however, the microphone will work regardless of the warning.
Now that Cortana , you can try out these 59 questions that elicit unique responses from the digital assistant. And if you think this is perfect, wait until the future, when you can say "Hey Cortana" and wake your computer from sleep!
