Dropbox, the popular cloud service, just got a whole lot easier for iOS users to take advantage of all the features the service has to offer. The iOS application has just received a major update that adds a bunch of new features and improvements.
First of all, the developers announced that they have simplified Dropbox on the iOS platform. For example, it is now much easier for the user to access important actions regarding their files or folders, such as sharing, moving, renaming and deleting.
Basically, Dropbox for iOS includes a downward arrow, which shows a menu of actions when you tap on it.
Additionally, favorites have been renamed to offline files and users can select any file for offline access, which will be available in the Offline tab at all times, even if the device is not connected to the internet.
Users can now search for Dropbox files in Spotlight
Another new feature introduced by the developers is Spotlight Search. This means that if your device is running iOS 9, you will be able to see your Dropbox files in Spotlight search results.
According to the team , in order to make navigation on iOS 9 smoother, any Dropbox shared links that users click on, regardless of their location, will open directly in the Dropbox application.
Also important is the announcement by the devs that 3D Touch technology is now supported . With 3D Touch, Dropbox users will be able to 'take a peek' at a file or folder by simply tapping on it to preview it, or on the name of a folder to see its contents.
If you don't have the app installed yet, you can download Dropbox for iOS for free from the App Store. The app is fully compatible with devices running iOS 7.0 and above.
