Tango down, NCA website offline after Lizard Squad attack Lizard Squad hackers claim to have carried out a DDoS attack on the UK NCA website and taken it down after the arrest of six members of their team.
Hackers coordinated a cyber attack against the National Crime Agency (NCA) website in retaliation for the arrest of six young men who used the tool (Lizard Stresser) that was for sale by the Lizard Squad group.
The Lizard Squad group claims responsibility for the hack by tweeting the following message:
“Stressed out? https://www.nationalcrimeagency.gov.uk/ #offline.”
At the time this article was published on foreign blogs, the NCA websites had been restored and there was no further information about the attack, the only thing certain is that the website was not responding until yesterday morning.
The NCA arrested young men as part of Operation Vivarium, which was carried out to target members of the Lizard Squad group and its clients who run a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) tool to attack websites.
The NCA has not yet released the names of the young men arrested, but the information leaked by the legal entities is the age and place of residence of the suspects.
An 18-year-old from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire
An 18-year-old from Manchester
A 16-year-old from Northampton
A 15-year-old from Stockport
Two other young men were arrested earlier this year, a 17-year-old from Cardiff and a 17-year-old from Northolt, southwest London.
Investigators teenagers are believed to be members of Lizard Squad, nor were they involved in the attacks that hit Sony and Microsoft last year.
