D-Partner app: The ally of people with diabetes

D-Partner app

H Vodafone in collaboration with Novo Nordisk are pioneering and offering the D-Partner application, a complete and smart application, which aims to improve the daily lives of people who suffer from diabetes.

The D-Partner application , which is under the auspices of the Panhellenic Federation of Associations – Associations of People with Diabetes (P.O.S.S.A.S.DIA.), is aimed at people suffering from all types of diabetes and is available free of charge to all mobile communication users. The application is available for smartphones and tablets that support Android or iOS operating systems.

Aiming to facilitate the daily life of people with diabetes, this innovative D-Partner app offers a range of useful features such as:

Creation of a patient profile to log personalized parameters related to diabetes, log antidiabetic medication therapy, as well as the rest of the patient’s individual medical record.

Recording of measured glucose values and recommendations (for individuals treated with insulin) both for the titration of basal insulin and for the required units of bolus insulin. The calculation of bolus insulin is based on a food and meal database from the Nutrition Guide of the Hellenic Diabetology Society, and there is also the possibility for the user to input additional foods and meals not included in this database.

Recording of laboratory results related to diabetes and displaying suggested advice in cases of abnormal values.

Display a multitude of messages with recommendations as well as warnings related to diabetes, depending on the data entered in the app.

Graphical representations of glucose measurements, glycated hemoglobin, blood pressure, pulses, weight and heart rate over time

Logbook of glucose measurements, laboratory results, blood pressure measurements, weight and physical exercise.

Through D-Partner and exclusively for Vodafone subscribers, two additional functions are offered:

Telemedicine: It provides the user with the ability to give his/her own doctor access to the online electronic record that is automatically created through the application and for a period of time that he/she chooses. The doctor has the ability to study the registered data and add comments on the progress of the antidiabetic treatment, but without altering, editing, or deleting the data.

Hypo-Alert: In the event that the user of the application feels that he is about to have a hypoglycemic episode, which he may not be able to deal with on his own, he can press the Hypo-Alert button of the D-Partner app, thus sending his location – via SMS – to the phone number he has preset for such cases in the application profile.

The development of the application was carried out by Diabetes Innovations.

From her side, Ms. Angeliki Boura, Director of Corporate Relations at Vodafone Greece, said: «At Vodafone we aim to contribute to the sustainable development of society and invest in programs and initiatives that meet modern needs.
