VirtualBox 5.0 with new features and many fixes

Oracle Mehnert, was pleased to inform users that they have begun development of the next major release of the powerful VirtualBox software for Linux, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows operating systems.

A first Beta version of the upcoming and highly anticipated Oracle VirtualBox 5.0 is now available for download and testing. The new version includes a large number of new features, as well as many fixes.

The highlights of VirtualBox 5.0 Beta 1 include paravirtualization support for Linux and Windows guests, which could improve performance and timing accuracy, encryption , support for multiple USB devices, and hot-plugging support for SATA drives.

Additionally, VirtualBox 5.0 Beta 1 comes with a new User Interface settings page, supports more defined extensions for guests to use nested paging and hardware-assisted virtualization, supports guest-content scaling and HiDPI.

A modular audio architecture will also be introduced and the software is configured to support bidirectional drag and drop support for Linux, Solaris and Windows guests. A new encryption settings tab will be available to customize the new disk encryption options.

In addition to the new features mentioned above, this first beta version of VirtualBox 5.0 fixes several annoying bugs that are still present in the current stable version of the software. Among them, we can mention the absence of USB traffic logging as well as various API issues.
