Microsoft's Windows Store has reached a whopping 190,000 apps. Of course, that doesn't mean that all of the apps are legitimate or functional.
For example, a clone of the popular WhatsApp is available in the Windows Store for $3.99.
At first glance, you may be tempted to buy it, especially if you believe it is the famous application released for Windows 8. However, if you look closer and read the description more carefully and see the screenshots, it seems that the application is not the original one.
The description states:
"It is the best application that provides you many heart touching messages. You can share your feelings, emotions using these messages to your partner, friends and family."
The "smart" developer has his email as a support link (venkatreddy572[at]outlook.com) and uses screenshots showing the famous logo of the popular application.
Microsoft has of course long promised that it will not let such apps make a "career" in the Windows Store, so we expect the app to disappear in the near future.
However, what makes us wonder and is very difficult to understand is why the company would approve such applications? Is it to fill the store?
