However, there are ways to increase your online security and protect your system from many threats without making drastic changes to the way you use these tools.
• Don't accept “friend requests” from people you don't know. These requests may contain links that hide malware and allow hackers to gain access to your computer.
• Install good anti-virus software.
• Always send reports to website administrators about suspicious e-mails and links.
• Be careful and cautious even with messages that appear to have been sent to you by friends and acquaintances.
• Avoid the pitfalls of “overconfidence” when it comes to security. Even having the best anti-virus installed doesn’t mean you’re completely protected from viruses and malware.
• Choose a very good password that should consist of letters, numbers and special characters such as !$^&#. Use a different password for each website.
• Be regularly informed about security policies and best practices for protecting and addressing Internet risks.
