Blackhat: The new thriller film about cyberspace
Hacking is not only popular among cybersecurity and cybercrime experts, but it is also attracting the interest of the film industry. Hollywood films such as the film “Hackers” and the 2001 film “Swordfish” are prime examples, as is the new film “Blackhat” starring Chris Hemsworth.
“Blackhat” is a cyber-thriller directed and written by Michael Mann (who also directed “Collateral” with Tom Cruise), in which actor Chris Hemsworth wants to save the world. The latest trailer for Blackhat has been released online.
Hemsworth's character in the upcoming thriller is about a former Blackhat hacker named Nicholas Hathaway, who is serving a 15-year sentence for cybercrimes. He is recruited straight from prison by a mixed team of American and Chinese law enforcement officials to stop a high-level cybercriminal network in Chicago, Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Jakarta and save the world from global hackers.
Hathaway agrees to help in exchange for his sentence, but when he starts to delve into the matter, he discovers that the situation is much more complicated than he thought. You can watch the trailer here.
The director of “The Insider” and “Heat” spent years researching Blackhat, exploring people’s addiction to technology and security issues in our day. Oscar nominee Viola Davis, Tang Wei and Leehom Wang also star in the thriller.
