YouTube videos are a great source for creating GIF images, that is, animated images that can be published on Tumblr blogs, Pinterest, Twitter, Google+, and the internet in general.
There are several third-party services that can convert a YouTube video to a GIF image, such as GifYouTube. Now, we learn that the popular video platform is testing its own feature to create GIF images from videos.
Currently, the GIF feature is being tested on a very few channels, one of which is Good Mythical Morning. If you visit a video on the channel and click the “Share” option below the video, you will see the “GIF” option in the new options that appear.
Then the process of creating the animated image is very simple. You select a start and end point, with the minimum difference being half a second (0:00.5) and the maximum difference being 6 seconds (0:06.0). You also have the option, through two frames, to add, if you wish, text to the top and/or bottom of the GIF, turning it into a meme.
By clicking the "Create GIF" option, YouTube creates the animated image and gives you a link that leads directly to it, as well as html code for embedding the GIF on a site, with the image in this case leading to the YouTube video upon clicking.
