Athens Airport, in collaboration with BMW Hellas, installed the first electric vehicle charger in the short-term parking area P2.
The charger has a power of 3.7 kW and can be used by any electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle that has a TYPE 2 socket. Indicatively, in terms of charging time, a BMW i3 vehicle will be able to charge in approximately 6 hours (charging up to 80% of the battery capacity).
What is important is that the charging service is provided free of charge to Executive Valet Parking members, as well as to customers of the P2 parking area. Another important element is that the energy that powers the electric cars will come from renewable sources.
The electricity available for charging will be offset on a monthly basis by the production of the photovoltaic panels installed on the roof of the airport's terminal railway station.
