In the wake of a jury's decision in Ferguson not to indict officer Darren Wilson for the fatal shooting of unarmed Michael Brown, the hacker collective Anonymous has released a video promising to attack government and banking websites owned by the Missouri government.
The video has been posted on YouTube by a different "offshoot" of the hacker group than the one that participated in the Ku Klux Klan video last week.
This time, the threat comes from a mysterious band calling itself GSA AMCF (Ghost Security Anonymous / AnonMafia Cyber Family), and they are apparently outraged by the judges' verdict.
Addressing the protesting citizens of Ferguson and the US, they created a video in the style of Anonymous and the message is conveyed via voice-over.
“ Anonymous will target Missouri government or bank websites now, and you need to step up your security, because we are not going to stand by and watch you let this man walk free,” a man wearing a Guy Fawkes mask says in the video. The video has been used in other hacktivist videos many times.
It is unclear, however, what they expect with this type of action, as a DDoS (denial-of-service) attack on the websites will not result in a change in the verdict.
On the other hand, the original group fighting the Ku Klux Klan and controlling its Twitter accounts published personal information of alleged leaders as part of #OpKKK / #HoodsOff.
