Amnesty International has released free software that allows users to see if computers are being monitored by government intelligence agencies.
The program is called Detekt and was designed specifically for human rights activists and journalists.
“Governments are increasingly using sophisticated and dangerous technology that allows them to read private emails as well as turn on cameras and record them,” said Marek Marczynski, a senior fellow at Amnesty International.
Detekt was developed by Claudio Guarnieri and is launched by Amnesty International in partnership with Digitale Gesellschaft, the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Privacy International.
