Facebook seems to be constantly gaining ground over Google, Microsoft, and LinkedIn, in becoming an integral part of our daily work lives .
The Financial Times reports that there is a project, “Facebook at work”, which aspires to have a more work-oriented chat environment, document collaboration and storage space. Its interface will be reminiscent of Facebook with its News Feed, but it will have professional and personal pages. This effort is analogous to how smartphones are moving as a tool for professionals.
Many IT companies are looking to enter or are already in this market. Google , for example, recently launched its Inbox app for high-volume email. LinkedIn is already considered a professional tool, while IBM is introducing its new email and business calendar app this week.
Facebook at Work what needs to be done
In general, Facebook should focus on becoming an integral part of everyday work life, without losing its young audience. It has also already collected enough data about its users and with the contact it offers to professionals, it can stand up to LinkedIn, become a tool for HR Managers, but also raise the prices of the advertisements it offers.
