Microsoft is improving Skype with new features, and thanks to a new update released today, the service will be available to many more users, regardless of their device platform.
Today, the company introduced Skype, a new service that lets anyone chat with friends, family, and other Skype contacts without having to install the app. Everything will work through your browser, and Skype's familiar modern interface will load entirely without any downloads.
As with the Skype client, you can sign in to the Web service with your Microsoft account or Skype credentials. Obviously, the new service is available for free and anyone can simply log in from a browser on the Skype.com website.
Microsoft says that Skype's Web service is currently available to a limited number of users but will gradually be available to more users in the coming weeks.
The service supports Internet Explorer, Google Chrome on Windows, Firefox, and Safari, but it is still in beta, so errors and problems are likely to occur when using it.
