The Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate is successfully conducting teleconferences in schools across the country on the topic of safe internet browsing. The teleconferences are being held within the framework of the CYBERKID program and so far, teleconferences have been held in 1,313 schools across the country
The Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate, within the framework of implementing the CYBERKID program for the safe navigation of students on the internet (see the Press Release of 25-09-2014), is carrying out interactive teleconferences with particular success in school units throughout the country, every Tuesday and Thursday.
The program is implemented by the Ministry of Public Order and Citizen Protection and the Hellenic Police in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs.
The first teleconference took place on September 25, 2014 and to date 1,313 schools across the country have attended the teleconferences.
Schools participating in the teleconferences receive an invitation through the "meetings.sch.gr" system, of the Panhellenic School Network, and in this way, they join the teleconferences.
During the teleconferences, presentations are made by the Head of the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate and specialized Officers, using audiovisual equipment. More specifically, the topics developed are:
• The mission of the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate.
• The purpose of organizing the teleconferences.
• Crimes and the way they are committed via the internet, as well as prevention practices.
• The phenomena of online violence, the dangers posed by social networking sites and in general the prevention and treatment of risks related to new technologies.
• Statistical data concerning the penetration of Greeks into the internet and the cases that the Cybercrime Prosecution Service is called upon to deal with.
During the presentation, a responsible teacher from each school collects questions from students, which he sends through the system and the direct written communication function “chat”. The questions are answered, during the video conference, by the specialized Cybercrime Prosecution Officers, who carry out the presentation.
The information will continue in the near future in all schools in the country, in the same way, with the aim of informing all students nationwide by next April.
